One Republic’s Come Home

For a Pop-Rock outfit these guys have some great lyrics. Well ok, maybe it’s just that one line.

“Right now there’s a war between the vanities, but all I see is you and me. The fight for you is all I’ve ever known. So come home.”

…or in other words… “The cool points are out the window and I’m all twisted up in the game!” The Eugene Levy urban-translation.

Jokes aside tho, I’ve been listenning to a lot of One Rep’s Dreaming Out Loud. Their melodies are haunting. Their sound may not be altogether unique (Rock-bands-with-classical-string-arrangements being as common as Spears-women) but there’s something a little more polished about each layer they lace. The guitar licks, their hooks and Tedder’s voice, all save the band from Top-40 obscurity (hah!).

So check ‘em out if their mainstream status and Timbaland introduction put you off at first. They’ve got something.
