Apparently Tim might have possibly pinched the melody for Nelly Furtado’s Do It from a Finnish musician by the name of Janne Suni allegedly.
There, is that enough to avoid a suit?

There are two reasons why calling this a “sample” just doesn’t fly. For one thing Do It’s melody as well as its verse and chorus breaks were lifted from Suni’s piece, and that’s just way too much lifting for it to be sampling. When sampling, a musician is expected to use the snippet that becomes the sample strictly in aid of a new melody. The melody itself cannot be recycled from the sampled song. Secondly, samples are always given the appropriate credits in liner notes. He took what he took without accrediting Suni in any way. He has been in the business long enough to know that this is not on.
Sampling has created some of the best and most iconic music of the past two decades. What Tim said makes sampling sound like thievery, which just p*ssed me off!
