Found this while surfing, Lauryn performing Curtis Mayfield’s The Makings of You. I don’t know when it was recorded but I think it was recent. It’s so good to hear her again.

She’s got a new song out on the Surf’s Up soundtrack called Lose Myself that’s a tad overproduced. Her recent concert performances have been less than stellar and without a sophomore studio release to follow 1998’s Miseducation, 9 years into it, things are looking bleak.

O but when she gets it right tho! A voice made special by the soul who wields it. Special enough to have listeners holding out a decade for another dose in an age of 5-hit-wonders. Lauryn, these ears need more than a short lick off a bootleg mp3. Make that comeback strong, but also soon.
