Scott McCausland, the guy who uploaded Star Wars: Episode III onto a Torrents network, has been court-ordered to switch from a Linux machine to a PC.
After serving 5 months in jail he was, upon release, placed on probation. The probationary sentence requires monitoring software be installed on any computer that McCausland uses. Unfortunately the software doesn’t come in a Linux or Mac friendly version, so dear ole’ Scott has been ordered to use Windows XP. Apparently there’s no support for Vista either. (Ars Technica: Court orders…)
McCausland has added a donation link on his blog, to raise money for a Windows license.
Now that alone is enough to put me off piracy. The very notion of having to go back to DLL Hell will keep me on the straight and iTunes Music Store.
