Apple acquires “Me.com” for .Mac facelift

Apple has acquired “Me.com”, according to an article by Apple Insider.
Apparently they also scooped up “MobileMe.com” fairly recently and both acquisitions seem to tie in with a rumoured revamp of their .Mac service.

Apple has acquired “Me.com”, according to an article by Apple Insider.

Apparently they also scooped up “MobileMe.com” fairly recently and both acquisitions seem to tie in with a rumoured revamp of their .Mac service.

I’ve been a .Mac subscriber since early 2002 – yes I’m aware that I’m overpaying for basic web services – who has loved his mac-branded address. I don’t know how Apple plans to use Me.com or MobileMe.com but I hope they’re not thinking of using them to replace the Mac.com domain.

A less Apple branded name might help some of us…ooo, lets say…who work for Microsoft *ehem*. Still, Mac.com adds a certain ring to a person’s address. A “need I say more” statement to potential employers who are nice enough to hire you anyway ;)

Anywhoo…thought you guys would like a heads up. I know a few of you use the .Mac service.
